TBI: Texas man arrested, accused of using boat rented in Tennessee to dump body in Kentucky Lake

A Texas man accused of using a boat rented in Tennessee to dispose of a body in Kentucky Lake was arrested Tuesday.

Jeffery Rogers, 60, of Arlington, Texas, is charged with one count of abuse of a corpse and one count of tampering with evidence in Henry County, Tennessee. 

Texas Rangers took Rogers into custody in Fort Worth, Texas, where he awaits extradition to Tennessee, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Jeffery Rogers, 60, of Arlington, Texas, was arrested Tuesday, accused using a boat rented in Paris, Tennessee to dispose of a body in Kentucky Lake.

A woman's body was found inside a plastic container in Kentucky Lake just north of the Tennessee state line on Saturday night, according to a TBI news release. The Kentucky State Medical Examiner performed an autopsy and ruled that the woman's cause of death was homicide. 

The victim has yet to be publicly identified.

Rogers is accused of renting a boat in Paris, Tennessee, and using it to dispose of the body.

TBI joined the investigation Monday at the request of 24th District Attorney General Matt Stowe, working alongside the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency; the Henry County Sheriff's Office; Kentucky State Police; the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Texas Rangers.

Rogers remains in custody with a $1 million bond. The investigation is ongoing, according to the release.
